A great thing about this piece was that you spelled out your criteria for "hits" up front and followed through on the individual entries (with, for example, the chart position). So often when someone does a post on a topic like "hits from movies," the author's underlying assumption seems to be: It's a "hit" if I say it was. I appreciate all the work you put into supporting your opinions with facts.

So this is an observation, not a criticism: Your list might have looked different if your criteria had included Grammys. An omission that leaped out was Dolly Parton's song "9 to 5" from the movie with the same name, which won two Grammys. I'm willing to accept Tina as worthier of a place on this list than Dolly, but Avril? I'm not sure about that.
